How To Save on Apartment Storage: Christmas Tree

I grew up going to various tree farms the weekend after thanksgiving to get a family tree. Sometimes we rode in an old picturesqe truck just a few miles down the road where I would watch my dad saw down a tree that we all picked out carefully for its branches and smell. Or we took a long Sunday drive to a Christmas tree farm with reindeer, hot cocoa in the lodge, and Christmas crafts.

I have always loved the smell and idea of a fresh tree. So I assumed we would get one for our first Christmas. However, we are going to Chicago for Christmas weekend, and are saving our pennies for our trip! 

So this year we decided we have a perfect tree sitting in our living room already. Josef.

All that we really needed were some lights and decor :)  

In true minimal fashion, we each picked out one ornament from Target.  

And now we have come to love winter Josef even more. And we don't have to pack it up in a box and store it in our closets (serious bonus).
