Sharing experiences both far away and right at home

Weekends

Weekends

It's been a busy couple of weeks. But! Last weekend. Was awesome. It was full of good friends and good parties.

One of my best gal pals and her husband (Zach's best gal pal) came to visit Friday night!

image.jpg

They, along with many of our friends came to a party at Reimen Gardens to celebrate the recent aquisition of a USDA lisecense for a new product (ask sometime if you're truly interested).

Zach's branding was everywhere (proud wife). We got to cheers, toast, and celebrate. I enjoy myself at just about any gathering of people, but his coworkers are a good crew to hang out with on a Friday.

And then we went home and hung out with our friends for hourssssssss. It was like college goodness. And then Zach whipped up this Turkish Breakfast for our guests.

Saturday we did tame Bachlorette things for Courtney! They get married next weekend!! Hi what?!

She's legitamately the best bowler I know.

Nadia and I match a lot sometimes.

After bowling, we hopped into our room at Hotel Renovo. A newly renovated boutique hotel in Clive.

image.jpg

I have been wanting to see it since the renovation. It's really cool. The vibes are perfect for a hotel being attached to Living History Farms.

The rooms are as farm house chic as you can get in four beige walls. Include: farm sink, porcelain pig, and sliding barn door.

Courts sister is great, and put together little decor for our night in the suite.

We got ready for dinner at Table 128. This place is tucked in a strip mall (weird) but doesn't feel at all like a strip mall when you're inside!

image.jpg

We had whiskey cocktails and rosemary parm fries. Then moved into brussels salads, beet salad, and topped it off with duck con feit. REALLY GOOD.

Oh we actually topped it off with dessert. Churro-type small cakes with cinnamon but on ice cream.

We headed back to our little farm house and opened gifts, played the shower games, and prayed over Courtney and Logan's soon to be marriage.

And then we broke into the robes and slippers.

We wrapped it up with wine and a hot tub, followed by Bride Wars and piles of friends in comfies.

It was the perfect rainy day Saturday evening Bachelorette party.

This last weekend was dreamy. On a hot 80 degree Friday lunch break, I stopped in at Small Cakes for the first time! It's so cute!! And the lady was the friendliest.

My friend came to hang and catch up for the evening. The small cake was a belated birthday gift!

image.jpg

I took her to much affirmed on this blog (like every post these past few months) taco truck! She loved it! More confirmation that it's the best.

We had drinks and tapas at Lurra Cocina and ended our long awaited catch up hang with treats on my porch. I would be a good boyfriend planning dates for a new girlfriend. Amiright?!

The next morning, Zach and I slept in!! Yahooooooooaaaaa! And then we wandered down to the market, got groceries, wandered up to our apartment, said hey to the neighbor, and THEN made these veggie, bacon, and herbed goat cheese filled omlets!

image.jpg

And then we were SO RELAXED that we didn't realize we had to get on the road for Paulina and Bens wedding in a mere 45 minutes. BUT WE DID IT. There was minimal talking, all concentration.

image.jpg

And then three hours of country music and small town highways, we arrived (with plenty of time to spare).

The ceremony and reception were under a tent with garden lights. Everything was to their liking! Globes, maps, greenery, woods, rich tones, and white candles lit up the tent.

These two promised each other their best and agreed to give one another the grace that God has given them through the forgiveness of sins and Christ's death. I will always always be relearning how to be a better wife to Zach during each of these weddings and vows.

Also their first dance was to this dreamy song. I haven't stopped listening....

image.jpg

Three small cakes were brought out to share between each table. And they were so good.

image.jpg

Weddings are great if you're me. You get to admire the work of an event, walk in the ambiance desired and reflected by the couple, sit next to your super hot husband, be weird with your friends, and catch up with all of your far away friends!

image.jpg

After a long cozy drive back, we went to church but missed seeing our moms :( so we ate our feelings at BBops (ahem, Zach and your triple burger.....)

image.jpg

And it was a bit too chilly to enjoy outside, so I got to do Sunday things! And I loved it.

We are gearing up for a summer of fly fishing trips, so I spent some time rearranging my small assortment of flies.

image.jpg

I stopped in at Eden. Admired EVERYTHING as always.

image.jpg

And walked away with my new mouthwash that I have been eyeing, a refill for my hair powder, and a little brush cleaner :)

image.jpg

And then I got my introvert time and cleaned and organized and grocery shopped! And now the week has come. And we are getting ready for Courtney and Logan's wedding this weekend!

Cheers to weekends and weddings!
