If You're Ever in Alexandria, MN
Last weekend we loaded up a caravan and drove 6 hours into the wayyyyyy north of the land o lakes.
You know, the drive was long. If you're going into rural Minnesota, I recommend a few days at least between car rides.
But, alas, up we went to celebrate an old friend, getting married!
We stayed at a family cabin on a lake outside of Alexandria, MN.
These views were my wake up call. Eggs and bacon sizzling were my wake up smells :)
Alexandria is surrounded by lakes connected by underpasses. It's a cute little town! A booming main street and plenty of property that overlooks the water.
Because it was too cold to enjoy the water, we headed to a local winery, Carlos Creek Winery.
I did the Red Wine tasting, favorite was the Trinity. It tasted like Gouda cheese....is that appropriate wine palate?
Excuse my mouth, had something very important to say real quick.
Venice style, we rode the boat to dinner that evening.
We saw all the dream houses. Sadly big enough to house 12, and only used a few times a year by wealthy doctors. Classic.
We rolled up to a drive up bar, dreamed about the sand volleyball court next to us, and washed down the good old fried food with a summer beer.
After wine and presents, we drove back to OUR lake :)
The next morning we said hello to the lake, made breakfast, drank pumpkin spice coffee out of Luthern Church mugs, and packed up.
To break up the drive, we stopped at French Meadow for brussels and wings on the way up Friday AND Truce for some juice on the way down Sunday!! I got the matcha cashew milk again! Yerrrrrm. I would drink that with cereal every morning, no problem.
Minneapolis is the pearl of Minnesota. I love the shops and the variation of things to do and being SO close to lakes, streams, and timber. It's just a weeeeeee bit too cold for this sniffly gal.
Paige and Nick get married SO SOON! Capping off this wild year of beautiful marriages in a couple of weeks!!
Happy Weekend from cozy Pleasant Street!
