Cabin Weekend: Five Year Anniversary
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee went to the cabiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn last weekend!!
I had really been longing to go since the beginning of the month. It doesn't feel like summer until we head west with our friends.
We made a good stop in Omaha on the way and tried Coneflower Creamery for the first time! And. It. Was. Good. I got a little sweet cream and baklava. There was also white chocolate basil anddddd a lot of other amazing flavs. So fresh and a new must.
We made the annual stop at the tiny town grocery store to stock up on s'mores goods and beer :) the cabin weekend necessities.
And then we got there! And ran to the water. And unpacked. And wandered around before we plopped down into chairs and threw up hammocks for the rest of the evening.
Zach took a few photos :)
That's my oldest friend! She's cute and came out from Omaha :)
Another car of friends came and we set up shop around the fire for the rest of the night!
Zach and I slept outside next to our other friends and it was beautiful. Breezy enough to wrap the shell of my sleeping bag around, ya know?!
And thennnnn we made group breakfast per Nadia's annual request. 8 people crowd around that tiny tiny stove in the corner and throw veggies and bacon and eggs in the skillet. And Logan makes chemex after chemex of coffee and I stick my hands out and all of the brunch magically come to me on the porch :)
Emily and Lindsey came after brunch!! Along with Emily came a coonhound :) The fifth annual cabin was finally christened with a camp pup.
We brought along every yard game ever and tennis racquets and fishing poles, but we spent the entire day pretty much out in the river, on a walk, and sitting and talking. It was so good :)
The next morning it was time.
It's always the saddest part-waking up to pack and head home. HOWEVER, a planned treat in Omaha is the last little thing to look forward to. We opted for a pour over and scone at Beansmith instead of ice cream :)
Listen. If you don't have a cabin or a friend with a cabin, find one! Orrrrrrr buy a tent and take all of your friends that like being sweaty and covered in bug bites and go somewhere for the weekend!! It's so worth it.
