Birthday Dinner Club
Okay not a club at all. But people should have supper clubs again, right??
Inspired by Kinfolk Table recipes book we got for our wedding as well as adulthood setting in (we did freak out over a new mattress and pillows this week), a few friends decided to celebrate birthdays and Valentine's Day with a little dinner party.
Everything had a bit of a common thread. No one planned anything, but there were nuts and berries going on all night. Winter fixings.
Appetizer:
Maytag blue cheese and goat cheese covered in walnuts with a fig glaze. Spread on crackers and La Querca prosciutto.
Salad:
Mixed spicy greens topped with goat cheese, walnuts, beets, avocado, and sprinkled with blueberries and a little vinaigrette.
Main Course:
Roasted black pepper pork loin stuffed with sautéed walnuts, apples, and onions, and sage-WRAPPED with bacon.
There was no time for a before picture....
Dessert:
A tart of sorts. Oatmeal and Peanut Butter blended with coconut oil crust topped with with a lemon zest, Greek yogurt, and honey glaze and blackberries and pralines on top.
And a little Sauvignon Blanc to pair with the pork. And a little Pinot Nior to drink with the tart.
And that's what we did! We just sat around and talked about food and gardens and traveling and the future and the past and Beyonce's half time show and dabbing.
Everyone should get their friends around a table and enjoy the freedom to buy yummy ingredients and make them into really tasty things all by themselves. And then get to share it with your gal pals and relax and talk about Beyoncé or anything else that comes up (I don't know how or where there's anything other than Beyoncé in your convos).
Pleasant Street in the winter isn't that bad at allllll.
