Valentine's Day Weekend
Valentine's Day! Was a good one :)
Lets begin on Friday at work.
All the treats!! Yuuurrrmmm.
Birthdays are the best. And my previous roommate knooooowws how great birthdays should be. She is a month long birthday kind of gal. So! We nailed it pretty close to the actual date this year. We formed two friends' birthdays into one grown-up-sit-around-the-table-and-eat-dinner night.
I have always wanted to be, but never have been, the type to spend the evenings or weekends cooking and yummy meal. As much as I want to! I just haven't made the move. Pulled the trigger. We decided to start a little dinner club. Everyone makes one piece of the meal, and we sit around a table and eat and relax and hang out.
So we did just that!
Saturday morning we cooked breakfast for a good friend, drank coffee and sat on the porch. We exchanged little gifts (that's about as valentines as we usually get...)
I got Zach a hat from Kammock. His hat collection is taking over the coat pegs...but he looks good in it :)
Zach got me another Norden candle. If you have been to our apartment, you knoooowww how much I regulate the wax burning and length of time we burn our other Norden candle. This one is Rosemary, orange, and vanilla. It's amaze.
We picked up some yums at the market and headed over to our friends for brunch!
Our neighbors in our old building became awesome good friends to us. They are photographers/videographers and run their business from their home together. You probably caught wind of the amazzzzeeee Super 8 film from our wedding...that's The Wedding Format! Too good.
Anytime I went upstairs to visit Zach or was out in my little garden on a Saturday morning, I was absolutely offered 1-3 crepes by the Poyzers. It's what they do. Every Saturday. Guys, they taste unreal and it's the cutest Saturday routine.
They invited us over for crepes, just across the way, in their gorgeous new house!
It is beautifully old-built in the late 1800's and preserved by an old woman who finally sold. The Poyzers have a vintage/modern aesthitic to all that they do. And it's a perfect pairing in this house.
We got to celebrate Lauren's birthday again :)
We ate crepes and drank coffee and mimosas for actual hours. It was beautiful.
Zach and I ran errands, picked him up some birthday whiskey, and hit up the farm store down the road from our apartment :)
Wranglers and pink Carharts is how we waiting for our pizza to get done.
I had plans to stay in and relax on Saturday night while Zach went with Logan to the ISU game, howeverrrrrrr!! Logan was given tickets, so Avery and I went along!!
It was my FIRST ISU basketball game. I know, I know! It was so fun!! But like tailgating, I am way more entertained by it now than I ever was in college.
We got Clone Cones!!
We played University of Texas and we won.
Sunday morning, we went to church and listened to a message about marriage, in light of the Gospel.
“for the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so wives are to submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless. In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hates his own flesh but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church, since we are members of His body.”
Ephesians 5:23-30
Marriage exists to show much of the glory of Christ and his love for the church. And God does not exist to glorify marriages.
This was awesome to think about being 8 months into marriage with Zach and while I'm reading The Discipline of Grace and understanding more of what exactly Gods grace to us is and why it's so stinking amazing!
We celebrated Zach's dad's birthday after church with a little brunch at Jethros!
And there it was! The weekend of so many birthdays and so many meals shared with conversations with really great people that love Zach and I so well.
And THATS what Valentines Day is about, right? That and alllllll the yummy sweet treats :)
