Weddings, Pools, Driving, Repeat
Weekends this summer have been filled with sweet weddings and celebrations. They have also thankfully included time at the pool one or both days!
Last Friday started with ice cream treats! Zach and I are trying to not eat sugar during the week, so ICE CREAM FOR DINNER IT WAS. And it was good.
Okay, we are also trying to eat less bread during the week, SO we made sandwiches all weekend!
Saturday we had the privilege of attending Zach's boss's wedding. Held on her family's beautiful grounds, it was a stunning wedding.
Their wedding had the most details and the most interesting agenda of any weddings I have been to. It was also one of the most comfortable weddings I have been to. The men wore suit jackets and the women were a little more formal than your typical summer field wedding. But, we also spent the evening perusing the grounds and sipping whiskey on their wraparound deck.
As southern wedding as it gets in Iowa I think :) Enjoy some pre ceremony snap chats.
After the ceremony and reception, we sat at our assigned tables (check out the giant glass pane with seating assignments on it)
We snacked and drank and listened to toasts!
After a really really good and creative meal, we got up and watched the dances and everyone really just had a great time mingling while sipping on the signature cocktails.
Oh yes, and the cigar bar.
There was a longggggg firework show!
And then there were s'mores and bonfires! And then it was time for the sparklers and the well wishing!
It was a ton of fun to be a part of your wedding celebration Sarah and Ben!
A lot of our weekends with no plans end up involving taking leisurely drives through Des Moines and running errands. I have come to really love those minutes in the car with Zach :) It helps that he's a great driver. He can watch everything, be goofy with me, andddddd love on all the summer pop punk music he wants (and no one gets run over).
Sunday = POOL ALL DAY. Seriously guys, go to the pool. Sweat and play all day with your friends. It's so good for you. My philosophy is that if I work in an air conditioned building all week, my weekends NEED to be 90% outside during the summer!
Things will progressively get weird throughout your time in the sun.
And with that, Happy Tuesday from The Gilberts :)
